Removing the system board

Prerequisites

  1. Follow the procedure in before working inside your computer.
  2. Remove the SD card.
  3. Remove the base cover.
  4. Remove the battery.
  5. Remove the WLAN card.
  6. Remove the memory modules
  7. Remove the display assembly.
  8. Remove the SSD.
  9. Remove the system fan.
  10. Remove the heatsink.
    NOTE: The system board can be removed along with the heat sink.

Steps

  1. Remove the two (M2.5x5) screws from the right hinge and fold the right hinge up.
  2. Disconnect the following cables from the system board:
    1. Fan cable
    2. IO board FFC
    3. Power- adapter port cable
    4. Fingerprint-reader cable, if applicable
    5. Keyboard FFC
    6. Keyboard backlight FFC, if applicable
    7. Touchpad FFC
    8. Hard drive FFC
    9. Speaker cable
  3. Remove the three (M2x3) screws and the single (M2x2) screw that secures the system board to the palm-rest and keyboard assembly.
  4. Carefully lift the system board away from the palm-rest and keyboard assembly.
