Removing the M.2 Solid State Drive - SSD

  1. Follow the procedure in Before working inside your computer.
  2. Remove the:
    1. base cover
    2. battery
  3. To remove the SSD:
    1. Touch: Remove the one M2x3 screw [1] that secures the SSD bracket to the laptop and lift the SSD frame [2] that secures the SSD card to the system board. .
      NOTE Peel off the adhesive tape that is placed above the SSD card and remove the screw (1), for Non-Touch systems.

      For models shipped with NVMe SSDs, remove the thermal plate placed over the SSD.

    2. Remove the SSD frame that secures the SSD card to the system board [2].
    3. Lift and pull the SSD card from the laptop [3].
    NOTE For models shipped with NVMe SSDs, remove the thermal plate placed over the SSD.

  4. To remove the SSD clip -Touch and Non-touch :
    1. Remove the M2x3 screw that secures the SSD clip to the laptop [1].
    2. Lift the SSD clip away from the laptop [2].
