Removing the System Fan

  1. Follow the procedures in Before Working Inside Your Computer .
  2. Remove the:
    1. base cover
    2. battery
  3. Perform the following steps to remove the system fan:
    1. Disconnect the system-fan cable [1] and power cable [2] from the system board.
    2. Un-route the power cable from its holder to access the system fan screw [3].
      • NOTE: Disconnecting the power cable is optional. For easy removal of the system fan, it is recommended to disconnect the power cable.

    3. Remove the screws that secure the system fan to the computer. Lift the system fan away from the computer.
