Installing the base cover
CAUTION:The information in this installation section is intended for authorized service technicians only.
Prerequisites
About this task
The following images indicate the location of the base cover and provide a visual representation of the installation procedure.
NOTE:
If the battery removal is not a pre-requisite and if you have disconnected the battery cable, ensure to connect the battery cable. To connect the battery cable, follow step 1 to step 3 in the procedure.
Steps
- Connect the battery cable to the system board.
- Align and place the battery connector bracket on the palm-rest assembly.
- Tighten the captive screw that secures the battery connector bracket to the palm-rest assembly.
- Align and place the base cover into slots on the palm-rest assembly.

- Align the screw holes on the base cover with the screw holes on the palm-rest assembly before applying slight pressure to the base cover.
- Snap the base cover into place on the palm-rest assembly.

- Tighten the eight captive screws (M2x3, Torx 5) that secure the base cover to the palm-rest assembly.
