VRTX, Aliens and Thunderbolts

The title brings to mind visions of a blockbuster action movie doesn't it? While I am not writing about a new movie, I will be going over a few system releases and how customer ideas were implemented in the process. Our focus will be on the Poweredge VRTX, the new Alienware notebook line up and the XPS 27 All-in-One. Lets start with The PowerEdge VRTX.

Earlier this month at the Dell Enterprise Forum Dell introduced the PowerEdge VRTX which is powered by the Intel Xeon processor E5 family. The PowerEdge VRTX integrates servers, storage and networking in a compact shared infrastructure platform. As a result of the PowerEdge VRTX, IdeaStorm contributor bizarrefish's idea, SME Server Form Factor has been Partially Implemented.

Up next are the Aliens. At this year's E3, Alienware announced their new laptop line up with 14, 17 and 18 inch screen sizes. All three come with Quad-core 4th Generation Intel Core i7 processors, NVIDIA GeForce 700 series Graphics, an anodized aluminum shell and magnesium alloy body but the Alienware 14 is what I would like to concentrate on. Three customer ideas, Offer the Alienware m14x with a 1080p screen by RocketPenguin, IPS Display for upcoming xps and alienware should included  by Stylish_Thunder and High-gamut or IPS Matte screens by Prolixious were implemented with the Alienware 14's optional antiglare, IPS Full HD screen. The new optional IPS panel delivers a 75 percent higher contrast ration, 60 percent greater color gamut and is 7 percent lighter in weight than the standard panel. Alienware also recently updated the X51 which also incorporated two customer related ideas, ALIENWARE X51 R2 by one of our IdeaStorm Rockstars StigtriX and x51 graphics card by AlienwareX51

Last but not least is Thunderbolts. You may have noticed that the XPS 27 All-in-One was recently updated to include 4th Generation Intel Core i5 and i7 processors. What you may not have noticed is that it also now includes a Thunderbolt port. Due to this update, pibroch's idea For heaven's sake just add ThunderBolt ports to compete with Apple has been Partially Implemented.

Congratulations to all the contributors who's ideas were used in these products. Keep those great ideas coming into IdeaStorm.
