At NRF Dell affirms commitment to the connected consumer, announces Dell ProSupport for Retail and renewed partnership for Elo TouchSystems Products

This week at NRF, the retail industry’s premier event, we have the opportunity to reflect on the continuing evolution of the consumer and how our own solutions continue to grow to assist retailers, both large and small, address the needs associated with this change.  It has become increasingly clear the retail industry is undergoing its largest disruptive change in decades driven by the consumerization of IT. The wide-spread use of smartphones and tablets in the shopping process as well as the emergence of social media have placed heightened importance on the Internet and given rise to a new breed of shopper: the connected consumer

The connected consumer has deconstructed the shopping experience and is firmly in the driver’s seat, placing new demands on retailers as they follow a much more unpredictable shopping path and use a mixture of personal technology, social media, and bricks and mortar stores to create their own, personal shopping path. Dell’s approach to enabling retailers actively engage with the connected consumer, helping them to discover customer insights, improve customer engagement, and increase operational efficiency. The impact of social media is huge and there’s an opportunity to take advantage of it. Be sure to watch this space for more information on how Dell is meeting the needs of the connected consumer.

Today, Dell is proud to announce it is extending its ProSupport level of service to its Retail Point-of-Sale systems giving retailers the service and support they need from a trusted vendor. The new offering will be available this spring.

Support will cover Dell hardware and non-Dell retail peripherals including, but not limited to, receipt printers and cash drawers. Support also extends into select software such as pcAmerica and Intuit. Retail customers who choose ProSupport reduce IT complexity and time dedicated to managing a multi-vendor IT environment, freeing up time to focus on mission critical tasks to run their businesses.

  • Hardware break/fix with parts and labor dispatch
  • 24x7x365 phone support

In addition, we’re also excited to announce our alliance to sell the Elo TouchSystems B-Series All-in-One Point of Sale touchcomputer systems from TE Connectivity. By adding the B-Series to our POS solution portfolio, Dell customers can get all the functionality of a traditional POS system in a small foot print and receive top notch support with ProSupport. The new Elo TouchSystems All-in-One offerings are ideal for stores or restaurants with limited check-out space.

“With a 50-plus year history of leadership, TE Connectivity is dedicated to building technology that connects and protects the flow of power and data inside the products that touch every aspect of our lives,” said Bill Nulf, North America Sales Director, TE. “Dell’s commitment to helping retailers innovate their IT environments makes them a valued partner, one we know our mutual customers can trust.”
