The Dell DVS Simplified Appliance takes aim at such customer pain points by delivering a pre-configured, ready-to-deploy solution with initial setup in as little as four hours and pricing starting at less than $500/seat.
Especially well-suited for small- to medium-sized customers (50 to 1,000 users) with less complex IT environments, the solution is competitively priced and simpler to deploy and maintain than enterprise-class solutions. The jointly-engineered Dell and Citrix® solution does not require specialized IT resources to support and provides a rich user experience across a variety of devices with full-HD support including DirectX 3D-based applications, unified communications with Microsoft® Lync® and universal printing.
This new version comes in two sizes: the entry level which can support 50 to 80 users, and the standard size which can support up to 150 users– 26 percent more virtual desktops than the previous version – with modular scaling up to 1,000 or more users in increments of small and large appliances. Just plug in the appliance and start configuring your pooled virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) environment. The simple deployment process includes wizard-driven setup and configuration for initiating the server grid, importing a single primary image, creating a virtual desktop template and assigning users to a template. The hypervisor and Citrix software are already pre-installed. Customers also can access purpose-designed Dell Services for jumpstart training, installation and customization. All of this dramatically improves total cost of ownership (TCO).

The open architecture and protocol-agnostic design provides interoperability, making it fit neatly into existing infrastructure, supported by a tested reference architecture. Customers can couple DVS Simplified appliance with services and Dell Wyse endpoints optimized for Citrix for a complete ‘better together’ solution.
