Connectrix Brocade: "Processor rebooted - Software Fault:ASSERT"

Symptoms

Switch rebooted due to the following error:

Processor rebooted - Software Fault:ASSERT

 

Cause

The "Software Fault:ASSERT" is a software issue and it happened on CP1 (earlier Active) it failed over to the other CP 0 (earlier Standby)
The problem was in the routing services, a null pointer was received while trying to fetch the data.

Resolution

A software defect in routing services caused the failure hitting Brocade defect DEFECT000440968.
The fix for the issue is to upgrade the switch to FOS 7.4.x and above.
