How to change the Dell Encryption External Media device password

It may be necessary to change the password on a USB storage device encrypted by Dell Encryption External Media software. Sometimes, a user may reset the Dell Encryption External Media device's password in order to share data with a colleague. The following process can be used to reset the password for a Dell Encryption External Media-encrypted removable media storage device.

Resolution
- Log in to a Dell Encryption Enterprise Shield workstation and insert the encrypted removable storage device.
- Open My Computer and find the mounted removable storage device.

- Right-click the mounted removable storage device and select External Media Shield > Change Password from the context menu.

Alternatively, the password can also be changed in the Dell Encryption Local Management Console. Right-click the Dell Encryption Enterprise icon that is found on the system tray, click Open Dell Encryption Enterprise.
- Click Removable Storage
- Select the removable device from the list.
- Click Change Password

- Enter the current password, the new password, and again confirm the new password.

The password for this media has now been reset successfully.
