Instructions

Affected Products:

  • Dell Encryption
  • Dell Data Protection | Encryption

  • Slow Performance with Dell Encryption and Trend Micro on the same computer
  • Dell Encryption sweep logs are filled with access denied errors when Trend Micro is installed.
  • Removing Trend resolves performance issues on a computer with Dell Encryption.

Customers who were having issues with Trend Micro with our file folder encryption (FFE) shield had been resolved by modifying the TMPreFilter MiniFilter driver in the boot cycle.

EnableMiniFilter - A filter driver developed to the Filter Manager model is called a minifilter.

The Filter Manager is a file system filter driver that Microsoft provides, that simplifies the development of third-party filter drivers and solves many of the problems with the existing legacy filter driver model, such as the ability to control load order through an assigned altitude.

Modify or Create the following registry entry to the value listed:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\TmPreFilter\Parameters]
"EnableMiniFilter"=dword:00000001

It may also be added to the Dell Data Protection executable files to the Trusted Program List to resolve all Behavior Monitoring, On-Access scanning and VSAPI settings.

Log in with the root ID to the Trend Micro management console and add the list of executable files that are defined here:
