Resolution

The EMS log location was moved in Dell Data Protection | Encryption 8.3.0 from C:\ProgramData\Credant\EMS\Logs to C:\ProgramData\Dell\Dell Data Protection\Encryption. However, the Windows installer may still have the previous location cached. If the C:\ProgramData\Credant\EMS\Logs folder is manually deleted, then MSIexec attempts to repair the folder when the user right-clicks a file in Windows Explorer.

To stop MSIExec from trying to repair the Dell Data Protection | Encryption installation, re-create the folder C:\ProgramData\Credant\EMS\Logs.

This issue is resolved in Dell Data Protection | Encryption v8.5.0 and later.
