Symptoms
- You are attempting to restore a VM backup completed with the NVP vProxy appliance.
- During the restore the following failure is observed in the recover session log:

- The vProxy /opt/emc/vproxy/runtime/logs/vrecoverd/vrecoverd-vddk.log reports:
YYYY-MM-DDT16:51:18Z NOTICE: VDDK INFO VixDiskLib: VixDiskLib_Write: Write 2048 sectors to disk at 1358354432 failed. Error 7 (A file access error occurred on the host or guest operating system) (DiskLib error 327689: Input/output error) at 6296.
- To enable VDDK, debug modify the vProxies /opt/emc/vproxy/conf/VixDiskLib.config to contain
vixDiskLib.transport.LogLevel = 6
Cause
Virtual Disk Development Kit (VDDK) error 7 is coming from the VMware Application Programming Interface (API). There is not enough space on the target datastore selected during restore to restore the VM.
Resolution
Confirm that there is enough space on the datastore selected for the target restore. This can be checked from the VMware vSphere client.
