Removing the I/O Board

  1. Follow the procedures in Before Working Inside Your Computer
  2. Remove:
    1. Battery

    2. Hard Drive

    3. Optical Drive

    4. Bottom Cover

  3. Perform the following steps as shown in the illustration:
    1. Unlock the I/O press latch door [1].
    2. Lift it upwards to open it [2].
    3. Remove the screw that secures I/O board to the computer chassis [3].

  4. Perform the following steps as shown in the illustration:
    1. Lift the locking tab [1].
    2. Disconnect the I/O cable from the system board [2].
    3. Lift the display assembly cable in an upward direction [3]

  5. Perform the following steps as shown in the illustration:
    1. Remove the screws that secure the I/O board to the computer [1].
    2. Lift and the remove the I/O board from the computer [2]. Figure displaying removing the I/O board from the computer.
