Removing the optical-drive assembly

  1. Follow the procedure in Before Working Inside Your Computer .
  2. Remove the:
    1. stand

    2. back cover

  3. To release the optical-drive assembly:
    1. Press the securing tab at the base of the drive to release the optical drive [1].
    2. Push the back side of the optical drive [2].
    3. Slide the optical-drive assembly outward to remove it away from the computer [3].

  4. To remove the optical drive from the bracket:
    1. Remove the screws that secure the optical-drive bracket [1].
    2. Remove the bracket away from the optical drive [2].
