Installing the heat sink - discrete

Prerequisites

If you are replacing a component, remove the existing component before performing the installation procedure.

About this task

NOTE:If either the system board or the discrete heat sink is replaced, use the thermal grease provided in the kit to ensure that thermal conductivity is achieved.

Steps

  1. Place the discrete heat sink on the system board.
  2. Align the screw holes on the discrete heat sink to the screw holes on the system board.
  3. Replace the three screws (M2x3) and tighten the four captive screws to secure the discrete heat sink to the system board.
    NOTE:Tighten the four captive screws in the sequential order mentioned on the discrete heat sink [1 > 2 > 3 > 4].
