This article provides links to download trial licenses for enabling Enterprise features on integrated Dell Remote Access Controllers (iDRAC) and Chassis Management Consoles (CMC). Trial licenses are provided for PowerEdge servers using iDRAC 7, iDRAC 8, iDRAC 9 and PowerEdge FX2 / VRTX.

1. Trial Licenses


Dell EMC offers the option to upgrade remote controller modules through a license file. The Enterprise license enables additional features like Virtual Console, Virtual Media, and Out of Band Performance Monitoring. For testing purposes, Dell is granting 30-days trial licenses for iDRAC Enterprise and CMC Enterprise to get familiar with the advanced feature set. How to use the iDRAC Virtual Media function to mount remote directories is explained in this article.

2. How to Use


License import on iDRAC


  1. Download the file corresponding to the iDRAC version of your Dell PowerEdge server

  2. Extract the downloaded ZIP file to receive the license XML file

  3. Now upload the file through the iDRAC web interface:

    • Enter the iDRAC web interface
    • iDRAC 9 only: Go to the Configuration tab
    • Go to Licenses
    • Select Import from the drop-down menu under License Options to import the license

  4. Wait until the upload process is finished, then log out from the web interface

  5. Log in again to check if the temporary upgrade was successful



License import on CMC


  1. Download the file corresponding to the chassis you want to manage

  2. Extract the downloaded ZIP file to receive the license XML file

  3. Now upload the file through the CMC web interface:

    • Enter the CMC web interface
    • Go to Chassis Overview, click on the Setup tab and choose Licenses
    • Select Import from the drop-down menu under License Options to import the license

  4. Wait until the upload process is finished, then log out from the web interface

  5. Log in again to check if the temporary upgrade was successful
