Touchscreen Notebooks: "Press and hold the power button, then press the volume down button to unlock" incorrect instruction

The following article deals with resolving an incorrect login message on touchscreen notebooks or desktop AIO (All In One) systems running the Windows 10 Operating System. 

Are you seeing an incorrect login message when you start your touchscreen notebook or AIO system?

When you get to the Windows 10 login screen on your notebook or AIO system, do you see a message stating:

• "Press and hold the power button, then press the volume down button to unlock (or press Control-Alt-Delete)"

Pressing the Power button and the Volume Down button to log in, is not a valid way of logging into this type of computer.

Note: The correct login instructions are still Ctrl/Alt/Del.

Microsoft's TechNet Social site has reported the issue being seen on several different system types, possibly related to using touchscreens and certain versions of the Windows 10 operating system.

How do I resolve this?

This issue has been identified to occur when the Intel HID Event Filter driver is installed.

The fix for this will be updated in the next Windows 10 release (Redstone 3).

• The Windows 10 update was released around October 2017.
• Also required will be an updated system BIOS and a new Intel HID Driver of any version released after December 2017.
