Avamar: Error 52001 (Communications Module Scanner Error) due to an unexpected switch firmware version

Symptoms

The following error is reported in the Avamar User Interface or mccli:

67678 2025-03-10 16:17:58 GMT ERROR 52001 SYSTEM  PROCESS /     Communications Module Scanner Error 
 

The switch monitoring log shows the following entries:

Cause

The switch monitoring script has not been updated with the newest firmware versions, so it does not recognize the firmware.

Resolution

1. Log in to the affected Avamar Utility Node or the single node as admin.

2. Download the GoAV tool. See the following article for more information: Avamar: GoAV Product Tool for Management and Troubleshooting

3. Elevate to root privileges:

su -
 

4. Run the GoAV tool with the following options:

./goav fix-switch-firmware-config
