Symptoms

Intel Active Management Technology (AMT) KVM remote console connection fails during connections to Precision 5560 and XPS 9510 computers with Ultra High Definition (UHD) display.

Cause

UHD (3840*2400) LCD screen resolution of the Precision 5560 and XPS 9510 exceeds the resolution scope of the Intel Management Engine.

Resolution

This is a limitation of Intel AMT for KVM functionality. Reduction of the LCD screen resolution allows the KVM to operation within the Intel ME design.

Change the LCD screen resolution to allow remote console access.

  1. Go to Settings > System > Display > Advanced display settings > Display adapter properties for Display 1.
  2. Click List All Modes in Adapter tab, select 1920 x 1200, True Color (32 bit), 60 Hertz, and click OK.
  3. Confirm the LCD screen resolution changes to 1920 x 1200.
