Symptoms
The issue can happen for an install or when upgrading the DPA application or datastore server on SUSE Linux version 15.
The installer runs and completes with:
The Datastore could not be installed OR the Application server could not be installed.
The following failure is observed in the <install dir>/dpa/services/logs/commands.log:
Steps to further investigate:
1. Then set the following variable:
export LAX_DEBUG=true
2. Run the install again.
Under /tmp, a file similar to the following is created containing installer debug messages:
lax-6974182363487891543-out.tmp
The error is observed at the end of the file:
The installer runs and completes with:
The Datastore could not be installed OR the Application server could not be installed.

Cause
This is a known issue when installing or upgrading DPA on SUSE Linux 15.
Resolution
The following information is provided in the DPA Administration and Installation Guide.
Install DPA on SLES 15 and later
Install the insserv-compat pre-requisite package.
Type the following command to check if the insserv-compat package is installed or not:
# sudo rpm -q insserv-compat
If it is not installed, type the following commands:
# sudo zypper insserv-compat (if you have a valid SLES subscription with licensed repositories).
# sudo rpm -ivh insserv-compat (if you do not have a valid SLES subscription, manually download the package, and run this command).
2. Type the following command to copy the /etc/os-release file content to /etc/SuSE-release:
# sudo cp /etc/os-release /etc/SuSE-release
