No Bluetooth Device Found in Settings on Dell Desktops Running Ubuntu (24.04)
Summary: The following article provides information about a Bluetooth detection issue on the latest desktops from Dell. No Bluetooth device is found in the settings on the Ubuntu (24.04) Linux operating system. ...
Symptoms
No device shown in the Bluetooth settings on Ubuntu (24.04)
You can experience an issue with your Bluetooth scanning if you own one of the following desktop platforms and run the Ubuntu (24.04) operating system.
No device is detected if Bluetooth is disabled in the control center on your desktop and that does not change when you enable it.
This affects the following Dell desktop products:
- Dell Tower ECT1250, and Dell Slim ECS1250
- Dell Pro Tower QCT1250, Dell Pro Micro QCM1250, and Dell Pro Slim QCS1250
- Dell Pro Tower Plus QBT1250, Dell Pro Slim Plus QBS1250, and Dell Pro Micro Plus QBM1250
- Dell Pro Max Micro FCM2250, and Dell Pro Max Slim FCS1250
Cause
Ubuntu disables scanning when you turn Bluetooth off using the switch in the Gnome control center. However, turning the Bluetooth back on in the control center does not enable scanning, it only unblocks the Bluetooth controller.
Resolution
Ubuntu are to resolve this problem by releasing a fix through an online update. (Current estimates are July 2025. However, Ubuntu is a third-party and Dell Technologies cannot guarantee that date.)
Use this workaround in the meantime:
-
Go to the Bluetooth tab in the settings and turn Bluetooth on.

-
Move from the Bluetooth tab in the settings to another tab. (It does not matter which tab.)
-
Move back to the Bluetooth tab.
-
Check that scanning has begun and updates the available Bluetooth devices list.
