PowerProtect Data Manager 19.16 File System User Guide

Add File Filters

Use the PowerProtect Data Manager UI to add filters that can include or exclude specific files and folders, based on certain conditions such as folder path, file/folder name, file type, and file size, creation date, and modification date.

Prerequisites

Ensure that you update the application agent (NAS or File System) to the latest version along with the PowerProtect Data Manager software update. This update allows you to apply the file filters that are added in the latest version of PowerProtect Data Manager, to the protection policy backups.

About this task

When a file or folder meets the conditions, the filter excludes or includes the data from the backup for the protection policy. By default, you must first apply include filters as the exclude filter operates only on the subset of files that the include has selected. Perform the following steps to create file filters.

Steps

    The File Filters window appears.
  2. Click ADD.
    The New Filter window appears.
  3. Click Create New to create a filter.
  4. Type a name for the filter in the Filter Name field.

Applying the filter includes all files and folders that match these criteria from the backup for the protection policy. When you add multiple filters and conditions, files are included only if it meets all the filter conditions.
