PowerProtect Data Manager 19.16 File System User Guide

Select protection policy assets

On the Assets page, click + Add to select the unprotected assets that you want to add to the backup of this protection policy.

Steps

  1. On the Assets page, select the unprotected assets that you want to add to the backup of this protection policy.
The window enables you to filter by asset name to locate the required assets.
You can use View to switch between a list view that displays all assets, or a tree view that displays the assets in a hierarchical structure underneath each host. A tree view can be helpful if you have added multiple file systems so that you can more easily identify which assets belong to which host. To view only unprotected assets, ensure that Show only unprotected assets is selected.
    NOTE:
    • Only the tree view shows assets that are protected based on protection rules. To view assets that are protected with protection rules, switch from list view to tree view in the previous page.
    • In tree view, when you select the entire set of an asset including the server or host or when selecting the server or host of an asset, an icon asset icon appears and a protection rule is created to ensure that the selected server or host is protected by the protection policy.
    • The protection rules that are created while adding or editing the protection policy cannot be edited or deleted from the Protection Rules window.
  2. Click Next.
