CHECK_SNAPSHOT_SIZE

Determines whether the current size of the source device or the snapshot size is compared with the target device size when the LINK command is processed.

CHECK_SNAPSHOT_SIZE(YES) is useful in cases where the snapshot was created before dynamic expansion of the source device. With CHECK_SNAPSHOT_SIZE(YES), the size of the source device at snapshot creation is displayed in the SNAPSHOT SIZE (IN CYLINDERS) field of the QUERY SNAPSHOT multiline report.

NOTE:The ResourcePak Base for z/OS Product Guide discusses Dynamic Volume Expansion (DVE).

CHECK_SNAPSHOT_SIZE(YES) may impact performance. If the snapshot and the source volume are expected to be the same size, use CHECK_SNAPSHOT_SIZE(NO).

The CHECK_SNAPSHOT_SIZE parameter can be specified on the GLOBAL and LINK commands. It has a matching site option, &CHKSNSZ.

Syntax

CHECK_SNAPSHOT_SIZE({Yes|No})

Options

Yes
Compare the snapshot size (cylinders).
No
(Default) Compare the current size of the source device (cylinders).
