Clears the in-memory track pointers of a device.

Syntax

FREE(TARGet({UNIT(cuu)|SYMDV#(symdv#)|SCFGroup(gnsgrp)})[optional_parameters])

Where optional_parameters are:

[CHECKBCVHoldstatus({Yes|No})] The default value is Yes.

Command-specific parameters

[STOP({Yes|No})]

Terminates the FREE background process in the storage system. The default is No.

See TarGet. At the time the FREE command is issued, the target device must be offline to the current host. The target device may be online to other hosts if the CHECKONLINEPATHSTATUS parameter is set to NO or NEVER.
