Installing the 2.5-inch hard drive

Prerequisites

If you are replacing a component, remove the existing component before performing the installation procedure.

About this task

The following images indicate the location of the 2.5-inch hard drive and provide a visual representation of the installation procedure.

NOTE:For systems that support dual 2.5-inch hard drives, the second 2.5-inch hard drive can be mounted to the back of the hard-driver carrier. The installation steps remain the same for both hard-drives.

Steps

  1. Align the slots on the 2.5-inch hard drive with the mounting points on the hard-drive carrier.
  2. Pry the hard-drive carrier to align the mounting points on the hard-drive carrier with the slots on the 2.5-inch hard drive.
  3. Snap the 2.5-inch hard drive onto the hard-drive carrier.
  4. Align the tabs on the hard-drive carrier with the slots on the chassis and snap the hard-drive carrier onto the disk-drive cage.
    NOTE:Use the arrows seen on the caddy as guides to identify the tabs on the tray.
  5. Connect the hard-drive data and power cables to the connectors on the hard drive.

  1. Install the front bezel.
  2. Install the side cover.
  3. Follow the procedure in after working inside your computer.
