Sample memory configurations

The following tables show sample memory configurations that follow the appropriate memory guidelines stated in this section.
NOTE: 1R, 2R and 4R in the following tables indicate single-, dual-, quad-rank DIMMs respectively.
NOTE: When using an 86 mm wide heat sink for single processor, the memory module sockets A10 and A12 are not available for population.
Table 1. Memory configurations – single processor

In a single memory processor with a populated capacity of 16 GB, install the 4 GB memory modules in slot A1, A2, A3 and A4. In a single memory processor with a populated capacity of 24 GB, install the 4 GB memory modules in slots A1, A2, A3, A4, A5 and A6. In a single memory processor with a populated capacity of 48 GB, install the 8 GB memory modules in slots A1, A2, A3, A4, A5 and A6. In a single memory processor with a populated capacity of 96 GB, install the 8 GB memory modules in slots A1, A2, A3, A4, A5, A6, A7, A8, A9, A10, A11, and A12. In a single memory processor with a populated capacity of 128 GB, install the 16 GB memory modules in slots A1, A2, A3, A4, A5, A6, A7 and A8. In a single memory processor with a populated capacity of 256 GB, install the 32 GB memory modules in slots A1, A2, A3, A4, A5, A6, A7 and A8. In a single memory processor with a populated capacity of 768 GB, install the 64 GB memory modules in slots A1, A2, A3, A4, A5, A6, A7, A8, A9, A10, A11, and A12.
