Installing the power button with fingerprint reader

CAUTION:The information in this installation section is intended for authorized service technicians only.

Prerequisites

If you are replacing a component, remove the existing component before performing the installation process.

About this task

The following images indicate the location of the power button with fingerprint reader and provide a visual representation of the installation procedure.

Steps

Thread the power-button and fingerprint-reader cable through the opening on the palm-rest assembly.
Place the power button with fingerprint reader on the palm-rest assembly.
Align the screw holes of the power button with fingerprint reader with the screw holes of the power-button bracket.
Replace the four screws (M1.4x2) that secure the power button bracket to the palm-rest assembly.

Next steps

Install the system board.
Install the battery.
Install the M.2 2230 solid-state drive or M.2 2280 solid-state drive from the M.2 SSD slot, whichever is applicable.
Install the base cover.
