Powering the Massachusetts AI Hub with Dell AI Infrastructure

Dell infrastructure powers the Massachusetts AI Hub, accelerating AI research and driving economic impact.

Key takeaways:

    • Dell Technologies provides the foundational AI infrastructure for the Massachusetts AI Hub, engineered to scale securely and efficiently.
    • Locally configured Dell AI systems support sustainable, high-performance research across the Commonwealth.
    • Public-private collaboration accelerates academic research, workforce development and economic impact.

A new era of innovation is taking shape in Massachusetts. Through a collaboration across government, academia and industry, the Massachusetts AI Hub is poised to become a catalyst for research, workforce development and responsible AI adoption. Working closely with the Commonwealth, Dell Technologies will provide the foundational infrastructure for this initiative, enabling faster discovery and broader access to high-performance compute for learners and researchers within Massachusetts and beyond.

As John Roese, our Global Chief Technology Officer, said today, “With Dell Technologies infrastructure and expertise, the Massachusetts AI Hub will drive advancements in AI, scale research in higher education and create transformative opportunities for students. Our strong partnerships and extensive ecosystem, uniquely position us to empower institutions nationwide to drive and scale innovation. Collaboration on the Massachusetts AI Hub initiative underscores this ability and highlights the power of academia, government and industry working together to shape the future.”

Driving outcomes for research, education and the economy

The Massachusetts AI Hub is designed to deliver tangible outcomes by providing faster insights for academic research and applied AI projects. It expands access to hands-on AI learning opportunities for students and educators and drives economic growth through talent development, startup formation, and job creation. By strengthening a broader regional research community that includes institutions like MIT CSAIL, the Hub fosters collaboration across disciplines and accelerates innovation that serves the public good.

Powering progress with advanced Dell solutions

At the core of the Hub is a modern, scalable Dell AI infrastructure designed for demanding workloads, including training large language models and advancing applied research.

This system gives researchers and students access to the accelerated resources they need to push the boundaries of what’s possible—across disciplines from life sciences and climate to robotics and responsible AI.

Made in Massachusetts, for Massachusetts

Our work with and commitment to Massachusetts extends beyond this initiative. The advanced systems powering the AI Hub were configured at our facility in Franklin, Massachusetts—a site that, for more than 25 years, has been at the forefront of Dell’s high-end storage manufacturing and integration. Franklin continues to serve as a cornerstone for innovation, test, and delivery of complex IT solutions, including integrated racks for AI and storage.

This locally engineered infrastructure not only supports cutting-edge research but also strengthens Massachusetts’ Sovereign AI capabilities—enabling the development of secure, locally governed AI applications that address the unique needs of the Commonwealth and its communities.

A blueprint for success

This project is a testament to public-private partnership. The State of Massachusetts, world-class academic institutions and technology providers worked in concert to bring the Hub to life. We are collaborating closely with Cambridge Computer to orchestrate a complex system into a ready-to-run research platform.

The model is replicable: Align clear mission outcomes with secure, scalable infrastructure and trusted partners, and invest in workforce skills and governance alongside technology.

The result is an ecosystem that can deliver innovation responsibly and at speed.

The future is collaborative

As a foundational technology provider for the Massachusetts AI Hub with regional roots, we’re here as a long-term collaborator to help the Hub evolve, uphold responsible AI practices and scale access to compute as needs grow. Together, we can advance human progress and build a stronger innovation economy.
