Resolution

Steps

Automatic procedure:

  1. Please Install ScaleIO GateWay if it wasn't installed yet.
  2. Browse the IP of the GW, login and navigate to the "Maintain" tab.
  3. Enter the MDM IP and MDM password in the relevant fields and click on the button "Retrieve system topology" and provide the MDM Password again.
  4. Once the system details displayed, use the "Get Into" button.
  5. You can navigate to the "Monitor" tab and watch the process.
  6. Once the log collection was done, you will receive a single ZIP file with all the logs.

Manual procedure:

  1.   Please understand the topology, and make sure you understand which components are included in the particular ScaleIO environment.
    1.              To retrieve the IPs of the MDMs and TB, please run the command: scli --query_cluster
    2.              To retrieve the IPs of the SDS nodes, please run the command: scli --query_all_sds
    3.              To retrieve the IPs of the connected SDCs, please run the command: scli --query_all_sdc
  2.  The log collection script is located under /opt/emc/scaleio/<mdm|tb|sds|sdc>/diag/, and the name is get_info.sh. For example, for MDM the script will be:  /opt/emc/scaleio/mdm/diag/get_info.sh
  3.    In case same servers hosts several ScaleIO components, no need running the script for each component. By running the script for one component, it will recognize all the ScaleIO processes and collect the logs from all of them. For example, on servers that hosts MDM, SDS and SDC, you can run  /opt/emc/scaleio/mdm/diag/get_info.sh, and it will collect the logs for MDM, SDS and SDC.
  4.     Please make sure to run the script on all the nodes.
Note: on the primary MDM, please run this script after logging in to MDM with "scli --login --username admin", or pass the username and password as parameters to the script:
/opt/emc/scaleio/mdm/diag/get_info.sh -u admin -p <MDM password>

Once the logs are collected and uploaded to the SR, before sending to engineering for review, to open the log file and validate the following:

  1. The file is good and can be unzipped.
  2. All logs from all servers were collected.
  3. The logs are indeed covering the time of the event.
