Symptoms
Latitude 7230 Detachable sporadically does not charge or detect the AC Adapter through the WD19DCS dock
You can experience an intermittent power issue with your Latitude 7320 Detachable Tablet. It does not detect the AC adapter, and your battery continues to drain when you connect the tablet through your WD19DCS USB Type-C wired docking station.
The docking station does not have any issues on another model of laptop or tablet device. While the tablet does not detect the AC adapter, any external devices that connect to the dock continue working. You can establish a wired Ethernet connection through an Ethernet cable plugged to the dock.
This issue is intermittent and happens on approximately two out of every five times you turn it on through the dock connection. It does not matter which of the tablets Two USB Type-C ports you use.
The following symptoms are seen:
- The tablet does not start to charge when powering on through the dock
- The tablet battery continues discharging after powering on through the dock
- The tablet does not recognize that the AC Adapter connects through the dock
- The tablet continues to be able to use the other features of the dock
Cause
There is a conditional code issue within the BIOS.
Resolution
Update the BIOS to Dell Latitude 7320 Detachable System BIOS, version 1.31.0 or later. Use the instructions in the following link to download and install the Dell_Latitude_7320_Detachable_1.31.0_64.exe update file:
