NetWorker: How to Triage Meditech backup issues

Instructions

The goal of this document is to help the reader narrow down NetWorker Module for Meditech backup related issues. This enables the creation of a more detailed problem description and the collection of relevant logs.

Gather the following information:
 
Basic environment info:

About NetWorker server:
  1. NetWorker server name
  2. NetWorker version, and build number
  3. NetWorker server host operating system type and version
 
About NMMedi Proxy client: 
  1. NMMedi Proxy client name
  2. Is NMMedi Proxy client a Physical machine or a Virtual machine
  3. NetWorker client and NetWorker Module for Meditech version information
  4. SAN type/Storage Array being used for NMMedi backups?
  5. Is the issue with ISB backup, IDR backup or both?
  6. When did the last NMMedi backup complete successfully?
  7. What changes were made when NMMedi backup started failing?

Log Collection:
Collect the following logs from NMMedi Proxy host:

Zipped "C:\Program Files\EMC NetWorker\nsr\applogs" folder and daemon.raw
Zipped "C:\Program Files\EMC NetWorker\nsr\logs" folder
Zipped "C:\Program Files\EMC NetWorker\nsr\res" folder
If Symmetrix VMAX/PowerMax symm.res files are configured to be stored in a folder other than nsr\res.

From NetWorker Server 
Zipped daemon.raw from C:\Program Files\EMC NetWorker\nsr\logs
Zipped nsrdb folder from C:\Program Files\EMC NetWorker\nsr\res
Zipped output of mminfo -avot -n all nmmedi_proxy_name >mminfo.txt
