Intel AX211 Does Not Detect Wireless 6E SSID in Brazil

Symptoms

Latitude or OptiPlex computers with the Intel AX211 wireless card may not detect an SSID when using a wi-fi 6 GHz environment.

Customer hardware and settings:

  • Wireless card Intel AX211
  • Wireless mode 802.11 ax
  • The country or region is enabled Wi-Fi in 6 GHz (Wi-Fi 6E, Wi-Fi 7) according to the Wi-fi Alliance site.

Cause

Due to local regulatory approvals for Wifi 6 GHz, it took until after launch of this model, support on the platform requires a BIOS update to enable this feature.

Resolution

For Latitude 5430:

Update the BIOS to version 1.21.0 or later. The enhancement added in that version Added support for Wi-Fi 6E in Brazil.

For OptiPlex Micro 7020 and OptiPlex Micro Plus 7020:

  • Check that the Intel Wireless Lan driver is supported. Ensure update to 23.9.0.0.2 or later. Check the Drivers & Downloads section of the OptiPlex 7020 product page for the latest driver.
  • The engineering department is working on a fix to be released in BIOS v1.14.1 or later. The updated BIOS is posted to the computer's support page once it is available.
