Symptoms

A Precision 7875 Tower or Precision 7875 XL Tower may have the graphics card upgraded. This issue may occur if an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 50XX or NVIDIA RTX PRO Blackwell series (such as 2000, 4000, 4500, 5000 or 6000) replaces the graphics card that shipped with the computer. The upgraded card must be installed in slot 2. The computer boots once, then fails to boot with a solid white power button LED state and no Dell logo on the screen from the second startup onward.

Affected Platform:

  • Precision 7875 Tower
  • Precision 7875 XL Tower

Cause

The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 50XX series and NVIDIA RTX PRO Blackwell series graphics cards demand higher memory allocation and system resources due to their advanced architecture and capabilities. The default memory resource allocation is not enough, causing failure to boot.

Resolution

Updating to BIOS version 2.1.1 or later on the computer before adding a graphics card prevents the issue. To download and install the BIOS, refer to the BIOS Update Guide.
