ACTIVATE_SUBTASK#

Sets the minimum number of storage systems being activated to invoke subtasking.

When subtasking is enabled, one subtask is assigned for each storage system to minimize the ECA window when multiple system calls are required. When the ECA window is opened, all subtasks are posted to perform the ACTIVATE simultaneously. As each subtask completes execution, it posts to the main task. Once all subtasks have completed their execution, the main task closes the ECA window, and the subtasks are terminated.

NOTE:For zDP subtasking of ECA, SET and CLEAR take place when a VDG contains three or more storage systems.

The ACTIVATE_SUBTASK# parameter can be specified on the ACTIVATE and GLOBAL commands. It has a matching site option &ACTIVATE_SUBTASK#.

Syntax

ACTIVATE_SUBTASK#(nnn)

Options

nnn
The value can be from 0 through 255. The default value is 3. A value of zero disables subtasking.
