Deleting and saving exported zDP definitions

You can delete an exported VDG or target set definition from SFS without deleting the corresponding definition from the running zDP instance. For this purpose, use the DELEXP command of the zDP Definition Utility or enter the D Delete command in the zDP Exported VDGs or zDP Exported Target Sets ISPF panel.

With the zDP GLOBAL command EXPortDEF option set to AUTO, when you delete a VDG or a target set from the running zDP instance (using the zDP Definition Utility DELETE VDG and DELETE TGT commands or an equivalent option in zDP ISPF panels), the corresponding exported VDG or target set definitions are deleted from the SFS.

To keep the exported definitions when the runtime definition is deleted, specify the SAVE option for the delete operation. You can specify the SAVE option on the DELETE VDG or DELETE TGT command, or in the zDP Confirm Delete ISPF panel.

The SAVE option allows the exported object to be kept when the currently defined object is deleted. Such saved objects can be listed, displayed, or imported later. To import a saved object, specify it individually by name when using the IMPORT command or the equivalent ISPF option.
