Powering AI, From Development to Deployment with Dell and AMD

Simplified, secure and scalable solutions to accelerate your AI innovation.

As I prepared for the AMD Advancing AI event in San Jose, I reflected on how quickly Dell and AMD innovation is accelerating. Just a few months ago, we announced the Dell AI Platform with AMD, and now, we’re celebrating even more milestones. From newly launched servers to AI-enabled PCs, the momentum is undeniable. Together, we’re empowering customers to move beyond proof-of-concepts (POCs) and achieve real return on investment (ROI).

A PC Partnership Built on Innovation and Performance

For nearly two decades, the collaboration between Dell and AMD has driven innovation to new heights. Together, we’ve transformed the capabilities of commercial PCs, setting unmatched benchmarks. Dell AI PCs, powered by AMD technologies, continue to excel with up to 16.1 hours of battery life* and an incredible 33 times better impact resistance.** These machines are engineered to be the most secure and manageable AI PCs in the world.¹

What makes these systems stand out is the integration of advanced security and management tools. With AMD Ryzen™ PRO and Ryzen™ AI PRO CPUs across diverse models such as Dell, Dell Pro, and Dell Pro Max systems, users gain reliable computing power combined with forward-thinking security. These CPUs feature Advanced Neural Processing Units (NPUs) to deliver local AI processing. This setup reduces latency, boosts performance, and keeps sensitive data secure locally.

Our collaboration ensures these systems don’t just keep up with AI demands but empower users to realize their full potential. These solutions are here to break barriers in both performance and peace of mind.

Expanding Possibilities with AI Development Tools

The partnership goes beyond hardware by bringing comprehensive tools and platforms to the table. One highlight is Copilot+ PCs, which are designed to seamlessly integrate with Dell Pro AI Studio. This combination provides a unified, powerful platform for AI development. Built to handle extensive datasets, these tools help users adopt AI workflows with confidence and ease.

Dell Pro AI Studio takes things further by offering pre-validated AI models and cross-silicon optimization. These features streamline the complexities of AI adoption, removing hurdles and saving time. Later this year, Copilot+ PCs powered by AMD will include full compatibility with Dell Pro AI Studio, further enhancing their capabilities. This evolution is just the beginning of what’s possible with innovation-driven partnerships like ours.

Accelerating Inferencing with High-Performance Servers

At this year’s Dell Technologies World, we introduced a groundbreaking lineup of high-performance servers featuring AMD EPYC™ processors and Instinct™ accelerators. These servers enable faster inferencing, better processing of large datasets, and real-time predictions for AI models.

PowerEdge R7725xd

The PowerEdge R7725xd stands out with dual 5th Generation AMD EPYC processors and the highest storage-density NVMe configurations in Dell’s portfolio. This 2U server supports up to 2.99PB in storage across 24 U.2 drives, each connected with 4x PCIe Gen5 lanes. It’s also highly flexible, featuring PCIe Gen5 slots that can support 400 Gbps NICs or other advanced add-ons, ensuring seamless connectivity for enterprise-grade workloads.

PowerEdge XE9785 and XE9785L

The air-cooled PowerEdge XE9785 is built for enterprise performance and reliability, offering N+N input PSU redundancy at 208 VAC. With support for up to four NICs for storage throughput and eight NICs for compute fabric connectivity, it is ideal for high-performance AI applications.

For increased density and efficiency, the liquid-cooled PowerEdge XE9785L offers unparalleled scalability, supporting up to 96 MI350 series GPUs per rack within its IR7000 setup. This L11 factory-integrated system includes flexible deployment options like in-rack and end-of-row CDUs. Its design optimizes GPU throughput, using a combination of four PCIe networking slots for storage and eight PCIe slots dedicated to compute fabric.

PowerEdge M7725 with IR7000 Integrated Rack

The Dell PowerEdge M7725, paired with the IR7000 integrated rack, delivers industry-leading compute density and energy efficiency. It can scale up to 74 nodes in a single 50OU rack with dual AMD EPYC CPUs, reaching 27,000 cores per rack. Its modular design supports scalability, while the Dell Integrated Rack Scalable Systems program speeds up deployment. Designed for AI and HPC workloads, it combines scalability with time-saving features like front IO slots, cold aisle serviceability, and quick disconnects. Remote management is also a breeze, thanks to the iDRAC RESTful API with Redfish support.

High-Speed Connectivity Enabling AI Solutions

AI solutions require fast and reliable connectivity, and Dell, in collaboration with AMD, is raising the bar with innovative networking solutions. The AMD Pollara 400 AI-NIC (paired with Dell PowerSwitch solutions like the PowerSwitch Z9864F-ON powered by Dell Enterprise SONiC) provides groundbreaking performance with up to 400 Gbps bandwidth. This advanced technology includes hardware-accelerated features for RCCL, RoCEv2, and UEC transport, ensuring efficient communication between GPUs. As a result, latency is reduced, scaling is optimized, and hyperscale AI environments gain a competitive edge. Early trials show the Pollara 400 delivers outstanding results, achieving 90% of its raw bitrate performance during testing.

The Pollara 400 offers a low power design with support for standard copper, optical components and cost-efficient Linear Pluggable Optics (LPO). These features improve GPU-to-GPU communication, increase cluster scaling and reduce latency during token exchanges. This combination enables faster training and distributed inferencing for AI workloads. Early testing reflects its potential, consistently reaching impressive performance targets. Together, Dell and AMD are building a powerful roadmap for AI Scale-Out networking.

Streamlining Enterprise Deployment

Moving from AI development to deployment can be a challenge, but the Dell AI Platform with AMD simplifies the process. Part of Dell AI Factory, this platform offers scalable infrastructure, continuously updated open-source software, and integrated validation through Dell Omnia.

It also supports state-of-the-art models like Llama4 from day one. Performance-tuned containers are readily available on the Dell Enterprise Hub through Hugging Face, so you can innovate and save money.

Unlocking Your AI Potential

From high-performing AI PCs to scalable enterprise systems, Dell and AMD’s collaborative innovation is redefining possibility. These solutions are designed to simplify AI workflows, tackle complexity, and empower organizations to achieve their goals confidently.

With every step forward, these advancements underscore our belief in technology’s ability to unlock human potential. The tools we’re building today enable you to lead progress tomorrow. Together, we’re not just keeping pace with change—we’re driving it.
