Symptoms



Attempt to discover a new NetWorker server using a local agent via the wizard generates the following error message:
 
    Test failed! Error :
[Unable to send Message to Agent :Host{name = <NetWorker_server_FQDN>, os=null, aliases='[<NetWorker_server_ShortName>,<NetWorker_server_IPaddress>]'}]
 
  • The agent registered with the App server successfully
  • In the DPA GUI > Inventory the host object has the correct name and aliases according to the output of the command  dpaagent  i  from the agent host
  • The host system requests run successfully
 
The dpaagent logs show consistent warnings regarding:
 Process authentication failed with out of date password 

Cause

The system clocks for the DPA Application server and the Agent host were out of sync with a difference of a few minutes.

Resolution

Synchronize the system clocks on the DPA Application, DatatStore and the agent system via the same NTP (Network Time Protocol) server as per DPA technical documentation
