Troubleshooting non-quiesced Linux snapshots

There is a common method of resolving this issue on Linux.

Steps

  1. At a shell prompt of the virtual machine, run the command cat /etc/vmware-tools/tools.conf, and look for the value of enableSyncDriver:
    [root]# cat /etc/vmware-tools/tools.conf
    [vmbackup]
    enableSyncDriver = false
  2. If the value of enableSyncDriver is false, perform the following steps:
    1. Edit /etc/vmware-tools/tools.conf, and change enableSyncDriver = false to enableSyncDriver = true.
    2. At the shell prompt, run the command systemctl restart vmtoolsd.service.
