Adding a distributed port group to the production compute virtual distributed switch

Add a distributed port group to the production compute virtual distributed switch as part of adding a VLAN to the network.

About this task

For non-bonding NIC port design, PowerFlex rack supports three virtual distributed switches (vDS). For static bonding and LACP bonding NIC port design, PowerFlex rack supports two virtual distributed switches (vDS). Add a distributed port group to the production PowerFlex compute-only node vDS.

Steps

  1. Log in to VMware vSphere Client Web Server.
  2. Identify the production PowerFlex compute-only node vDS.
  3. Right-click, and select Production Cluster vDS > Distributed Port Group > New Distributed Port Group....
  4. Add the distributed port-group name and click Next.
  5. Select the VLAN Type as VLAN and enter the VLAN ID.
  6. Click Next.
  7. Verify the port group name and VLAN ID, and click Finish.
  8. Right-click Port Group > Edit Settings....
  9. Select Teaming and failover > Route based on IP hash.
