Mapping a volume to a Windows-based compute-only node using a PowerFlex version prior to 3.5

Use this procedure to map an existing volume to a Windows-based compute-only node using a PowerFlex version prior to 3.5.

About this task

For Windows PowerFlex compute-only nodes, only firmware upgrades are supported.

Steps

  1. Open the PowerFlex GUI, click Frontend, and select SDC.
  2. Windows-based compute-only nodes are listed as SDCs if configured correctly.
  3. Click Frontend again, and select Volumes. Right-click the volume, and click Map.
  4. Select the Windows-based compute-only nodes, and then click Map.
  5. Log in to the Windows Server compute-only node.
  6. To open the disk management console, perform the following steps:
    1. Press Windows+R.
    2. Enter diskmgmt.msc and press Enter.
  7. Rescan the disk and set the disks online:
    1. Click Action > Rescan Disks.
    2. Right-click each Offline disk, and click Online.
  8. Right-click each disk and select Initialize disk.
    After initialization, the disks appear online.
  9. Right-click Unallocated and select New Simple Volume.
  10. Select default and click Next.
  11. Assign the drive letter.
  12. Select default and click Next.
  13. Click Finish.
