Configure the switches

Identify the switches, add the configurations, and verify that all the port channel interfaces are in a forwarding state before configuring the port groups.

1. Create the PXE VLAN on all the access switches that exist in the environment:

   Cisco Nexus switches	Dell EMC PowerSwitch switches
   ToR Switch-A#conf t ToR Switch-A(config )# vlan <vlan-id> ToR Switch-A(config-vlan)# name <vlan-name> ToR Switch-A(config-vlan)# end	ToR Switch-A#config t ToR Switch-A(config)#interface ethernet<slot>/<port> ToR Switch-A(config)#no shutdown TOR switch-A# vlan<vlan-id> ToR Switch-A(config)#switchport mode trunk ToR Switch-A(config)#switchport trunk allowed VLAN <vlan id>

   If the aggregation switches are installed and connected, create the PXE VLAN on the aggregation switches:

   Agg Switch-A#conf t Agg Switch-A(config )# vlan <vlan-id> Agg Switch-A(config-vlan)# name <vlan-name> Agg Switch-A(config-vlan)# end	Agg Switch-A#config t Agg Switch-A(config)#interface ethernet<slot>/<port> Agg Switch-A(config)#no shutdown Agg Switch-A(config)#switchport access VLAN<vlan id> ToR Switch-A(config)#switchport mode trunk ToR Switch-A(config)#switchport trunk allowed VLAN <vlan id>

2. Add the PXE VLAN for each management node on all the access switches:

   vPC port channel on Cisco Nexus switches	VLT port channel on Dell EMC PowerSwitch switches
   ToR Switch-A#conf t ToR Switch-A(config)# interface port-channel <vPC peer-link port-channel #> ToR Switch-A(config-if)# switchport trunk allowed VLAN add <vlan-id> ToR Switch-A(config-if)# end	ToR Switch-A#config t ToR Switch-A(config)#interface port-channel<channelnumber> ToR Switch-A(config)#switchport mode trunk ToR Switch-A(config)#switchport access VLAN <vlan id> ToR Switch-A(config)#switchport trunk allowed VLAN <vlan id> ToR Switch-A(config)#vlt-port-channel <channel number> ToR Switch-A(config)#spanning-tree port type edge

3. If the aggregation switches connect to other access switches in other PowerFlex rack nodes, add the PXE VLAN to the uplinks between the access and aggregation switches:

   ToR Switch-A#conf t

   ToR Switch-A(config)# interface port-channel <port-channel # between TOR switch and Agg switch>

   ToR Switch-A(config-if)# switch port trunk allowed VLAN add <vlan-id>

   ToR Switch-A(config-if)# end

4. Verify that all port channel interfaces are in a forwarding state for the VLAN being added.
   NOTE:The following example shows only the server and peer-link port channel configured:

   ToR Switch-A#show spanning-tree VLAN <vlan-id>
