The version field in the output of the modinfo command for certain networking drivers is null
- Description
- The version field in the output of the
modinfo command for certain networking drivers is null. As a result, the version field in the output of
ethtool-i command is set to the version of the kernel. The output of the
modinfo command is similar to the following:
modinfo -F version i40e <no output>
- Workaround
- Use the following command to retrieve the version of the network driver:
modinfo <driver name> | grep rhelversion

- The issue is resolved in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.5.
