Symptoms

Network KVM CLI Commands Do Not Apply Properly.

Users may experience issues when using command-line interface (CLI) commands to manage Network KVM settings:

  • The UI in KVM Settings → Manage Cluster appears disabled.
  • Disabling Auto Connect, or Content Transfer using CLI disconnects the active personal computer.
  • The settings appear unchanged in the UI despite command-line updates.

Unstable Connection with Four Connected PCs

When configuring a Network KVM with four connected computers:

  • The fourth personal computer frequently disconnects or becomes unstable.
  • Connections may drop intermittently, affecting productivity.

Slow Auto-Reconnect After Logout/Login

Users may notice delays when switching sessions:

  • After logging out and back into a connected personal computer, Network KVM takes 20–30 seconds to reconnect automatically.
  • This delay impacts switching between systems

Cause

Across these issues, the causes are primarily tied to limitations or issues in specific versions of DDPM:

  • Configuration overwrite issue:
Stopping Network KVM can overwrite CLI-applied settings with recently stored cluster settings.
  • Stability limitations in multi-PC setups:
Version 1.3 of DDPM has known stability issues when handling four simultaneous personal computer connections
  • Service restart delay:
The Network KVM service requires time to restart after logout/login events, causing reconnection delays.

Resolution

Updating the DDPM to version 1.3.2.0015, A00 or later on the computer resolves the issue. To download and install the driver, reference How to Download and Install Dell Drivers.
