How To Properly Replace an SSD Drive in a vSAN Environment Using VCSA User Interface.
1. Connect to the VCSA User Interface as root.
2. Place the esxi reporting the HW failure into maintenance mode with "Ensure Accessibility".
2. Select Hosts and Clusters.
3. Select the DPappliance-VSAN cluster.
4. Select Configure > vSAN > Disk Management.
5. Record the disk group UUID and Flash Drive naa. ID from the correct ESXi
Example:
Disk group (52881ec2-ce12-4d61-d11b-d0a564eaa4d5)
naa.5ace42e02522fcb0
Prepare a failed SSD for replacement.
Steps1. In the PowerProtect DP Series Appliance Hypervisor Manager Server, navigate to the correct host.
2. Select Configure > vSAN > Disk Management.
3. Select the disk and click Remove Disk (s).
Optional you can Turn LED on.

CAUTION: Removing the SSD destroys the Storage Pool group.
Re-creating the disk Group
1. Connect to the VCSA User Interface as root.
2. Select Hosts and Clusters.
3. Select the DPappliance-VSAN cluster.
4. Select Configure > vSAN > Disk Management - Create Disk Group.
5. Select the new SSD/Flash drive.
6. Check the newly replaced SSD/Flash Drive and Select all hard drive.
7. Click Create.
See under tasks how the disk group creation progress and finally the disk group will display again under the correct ESXi.
Post Checks:
1. Exit maintenance mode.2. Log in to any ESXi over ssh and check the object status.
#watch esxcli vsan debug object health summary get
The sync and object recovery take from a few minutes to more than an hour since all objects are rebuilding and data moving.
Eventually after some minutes/hours they enter a healthy state.
