Symptoms
Network controller firmware for Broadcom NetXtreme-E devices, such as BCM57504 for MX7000 compute sleds, in some cases, may fail to update firmware and display an "SUP0550" error in the Lifecycle (LCC) logs. This issue can also be present on 13G, 14G, 15G, and 16G rack and tower servers and affect additional Broadcom NetXtreme-E NIC devices (for a full list of devices and server platforms affected, see firmware link(s) on the Dell support site, such as the example for MX740C compute sled: https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us/drivers/driversdetails?driverid=8fkr1&oscode=wst14&productcode=poweredge-mx740c).

Cause
Per Broadcom Network adapter release notes, it is not possible to upgrade 5741x/57454/5750x adapters directly from firmware version 21.85.21.91, or earlier, to 22.00.x.y, or later, through iDRAC, or Lifecycle Controller.
Resolution
Workaround: Firmware release 21.85.21.92 provides an upgrade path to the latest firmware using iDRAC, or Lifecycle Controller. To upgrade to 22.00.x.y, or later, through iDRAC, or Lifecycle Controller, first upgrade to 21.85.21.92.
Alternative: upgrade to the 22.00.x.y firmware by executing the firmware DUP from within a supported operating system.
Alternative: upgrade to the 22.00.x.y firmware by executing the firmware DUP from within a supported operating system.
