PowerProtect: PowerProtect Data Manager File System Agent Installation Fails on AIX using Short Name

Symptoms

From /opt/dpsapps/fsagent/logs/OpAgentSvc-XXXX.log:

Cause

The user must use FSAgent short name in the /etc/hosts file however PowerProtect Data Manager for security reasons requires Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN).

Resolution

  1. Check the DNS for FSAgent Client to resolve to FQDN
  2. Run register.sh and install the Agent using "IP address" where it asks for FQDN or IP.
  3. Edited /opt/dpsapps/agentsvc/register.sh file to have NSORDER = bind
Edit file to have NSORDER = bind
  1. Open the most recent file under /opt/dpsapps/agentservice/logs/Op*.log and search for the keyword fqdns.
