How to apply a Brocade TruFOS Certificate or a License with the use of a.XML file, to a switch.
The command to use and its related arguments:
Install the TruFOS license using the USB storage:
- Manually, using FOS CLI:
Recommended procedure to install the TruFOS certificate or a License, to prevent user and or password issues on the customers network SFTP server (For example if the password has special characters.) Omit the -p argument.
Note: The password is the only part that is interactive with this command and is requested once the command makes a successful connection to the SFTP server. If the password is incorrect the password prompt will be repeated.
The command to use and its related arguments:
license –install -- Where: -h = IP address of the Host -t = transport protocol -u = username of the host -p = password of the host -f = path and filename of the certificate
Example: (with the initial wrong password and second prompt displayed.)

- Manually, using WEBTOOLS:
Webtools, adding TruFOS go to Setting => Services => License Management
- Manually, using SANnav Management Portal (v2.1.x and later):
• Place the certificate under Portal_2.1.x_bldXXX/data/filetransfer
• Go to Inventory --> Switches in the SANnav UI
• Click the dropdown for the switch that the updated TruFOS Certificate will be applied to
• Select the option Run CLI Commands
• Provide the command
(If, for example, this failed there might be a possibility that the password has special characters and SANnav is not able to handle them with the install then do the install using the interactive way using the CLI.)
• Go to Inventory --> Switches in the SANnav UI
• Click the dropdown for the switch that the updated TruFOS Certificate will be applied to
• Select the option Run CLI Commands
• Provide the command
license --install -h ww.xxx.yy.zzz -t ftp -u admin -f /trueFosCert.xml/In this example, ww.xxx.yy.zzz is the SANnav server IP, trueFosCert.xml is the filename.
(If, for example, this failed there might be a possibility that the password has special characters and SANnav is not able to handle them with the install then do the install using the interactive way using the CLI.)

- Automatically, using SANnav Management Portal (v2.1.1 and later):
SANnav Management Portal monitors and manages TruFOS Certificates for all applicable switches.
- TruFOS Certificate information is displayed in Inventory > Chassis View.
- SANnav v2.1.1 (and later) automates Trusted FOS Certificate request, generation, retrieval, and installation (if there is an Internet connection available.)
- Checks for upcoming TruFOS Certificate expirations on all managed switches
- Communicates with the Brocade portal to request, generate, and retrieve updated certificates (SANnav server must have an Internet connection)
Installs updated certificates on appropriate switches.
- Manually using USB key.
- Place (or copy) the certificate (.xml) file on the USB key.
- Once the USB key is installed in the Brocade switch and enabled.
This can be done with the command:
switch:admin> usbstorage -e
Install the TruFOS license using the USB storage:
license --install -usb trufosfilename.xml

command to verify that a TruFOS certificate is installed and when it expires.

You can use the
license --show
command to verify that a TruFOS certificate is installed and when it expires.
Example:
