Cause

An HTTP optimizer is configured between the PowerProtect Data Manager appliance and the vCenter server. As backup traffic crosses the optimizer, a different SSL certificate was being inserted. The change in the SSL Certificate causes the VMware Virtual Disk Development Kit (VDDK) SSL handshake to fail as the certificates do not match.

Resolution

Configure the HTTP optimizer to leave the SSL data unchanged between PowerProtect Data Manager Appliance and vCenter traffic.
