NetWorker 19.7 Snapshot Management Integration Guide

PDF

Snapshot recovery support and limitations

The following support and limitations apply to NetWorker snapshot recovery operations:

  • A snapshot recovery is supported in the following user interfaces:
    • NMC Recovery Wizard
    • nsrsnapadmin command utility
    • nsrsnap_recover command
  • You can restore individual files or complete file systems from snapshot save sets.
  • You cannot combine individual files from multiple save sets in a single restore session.
  • You can restore data from snapshots that are cloned to conventional storage media by using the NMC Recovery Wizard or other NetWorker methods, as you would for any conventional NetWorker backup. The NetWorker Administration Guide provides details.
NOTE Recovery from a snapshot that was being rolled over to a secondary media (Disk or Tape), is not possible. Both the rollover and the recovery fail.
NOTE From Networker 9.2 onwards, for VMAX3 Snapvx/ProtectPoint VMAX3 file system recovery, if the recover LUNS are not part of VMAX default storage group NsrSnapSG, file by file recovery is not possible through recovery wizard. The same can be done through NetWorker CLI commands, nsrsnap_recover, and nsrsnapadmin because the user defined VMAX3 storage group value has to be passed with parameter NSM_SNAP_SG. For file by file recovery, currently in recovery wizard, there is no means to provide this parameter before starting the recovery.
